Thanks for any help.

Good morning.

What brand O2 sensor did you use?

Did you check for any exhaust leaks after you replaced it?

The o2 is a NTK.

Check the harness for any damage or burned wires.

The leak can cause the code. Repair the leak, clear the code and retest.

Hi Roy, can an exhaust leak after the downstream o2 say a foot or so trigger the p2096 code?

No, it would affect it if it was before the sensor.

One more question. Would a lazy upstream o2 on bank 1 cause p2096?
The o2 is not cycling correctly.

No, that is for fuel control. It is doing its job as that bank is running lean. Look for vacuum leaks, PCV valve and it could also be a partially clogged injector.

I am just wondering. I did not get the p2096 until I put in the catalytic converters and Downstream o2.

The downstream O2 sensor has only one job, it monitors the catalytic converter. It does not have any affect on fuel control.

I understand that. I just got the code right after I replaced the senor and converter. Just wondering why.

I understand what you are saying.

Now that the converter is working, the one bank is running lean. Hard to say why without me being there to go over the car.
