Got the car from Copart, a little banged up. Had to get a battery to even hear a crank from the engine. But obd2 reader says it’s basically in lock mode. It doesn’t have the manufacturers key, so I’m looking for help before I go spend hundreds with either route, I take in fixing this.

Hi,

The P1610 indicates that you are not using the correct key. After trying to start it (I believe) five times, it locks the vehicle down. You can try disconnecting the battery for approximately one hour to see if it resets, but if you still don't have the correct key, it will do the same thing over.

The P1614 simply indicates the security light is not working. This can be a fuse. Check fuse 21 in the interior junction box. I attached a pic of the box and highlighted the fuse below.

If the fuse is good, then confirm there is power to it. Here is a link that explains how that is done:

As far as the key issue, take a look at pic 2 below. This is the point where I feel you are presently. You will need to get the correct key and then have the NATS programmed to recognize it.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
