P1420 Evaporative Canister small Leak

Basically the EVAP system is supposed to be a sealed system with no leaks.This system takes all the gasoline fumes from the fuel system and fuel tank to be sent back through the engine to be re-burned. This helps to cut down on emissions and to help with the earths environment. Having a leak is allowing gasoline fumes to escape into the environment. You can also take your car to a repair shop to have a 'smoke test' . This introduces smoke into the EVAP system using the "green cap' service port.After smoke is entered you will see any visible leaks with the smoke escaping. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

As far as being safe to drive right now, yes it is. The EVAP system is designed to catch fuel vapor and burn it in your engine. It is more an environmental issue than a vehicle performance one. I have included in the diagrams down below the factory diagnostic troubleshooting guide for your vehicle's Direct Trouble Code(DTC) P1420. I also have included the parts numbers for the two charcoal canisters. I do not have access to pictures or diagrams of them, but I would think they should be interchangeable. You might run into a different fastener pattern, or something like that. Please go through this guide and get back to us with what you are able to find out.
