I doubt it was there before. I had some turbo leaks before but I am sure it was from the valve cover leaking bad. Now i have p1290, made sure coolant is full, replaced sensor, same result. I can read engine coolant temperature via scanner with old and new sensor.

This code can mean many things because BMW uses this generic code to list many faults pertaining to the engine coolant sensor/turbo and wastegate. Have you replaced the turbo? I have seen that fix it.

Drives great not in limp mode. I still have the same four codes to turbo but when i delete them and before starting the car i only get 2 codes which means it's a hard code. Having a hard time trying to understand what part i need based on the two codes left.

Yep, that DME code I don't like, it can be causing the other codes, I would try to get a rebuilt DME to see if that fixes it. The code P1290 is a difficult one to fix. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

I fixed it by adjusting the rod link to the turbo actuator.
