Hello,
This could be a problem with your vehicle's Engine Coolant Temperature[ECT] sensor. In the diagrams down below I have included the diagnostic troubleshooting guide from the vehicle manufacturer for Direct Trouble Code[DTC] P1126. Please go through this guide and get back to us with how everthing turns out.
Thanks,

If I can jump in and add a little more. These diagrams appear to be backwards. From my experience it is in the front of the engine by the alternator on most 4 cylinder Nissans. Last picture is from a different angle but shows the sensor and connector. Just make sure you drain the coolant down because it will come out when you remove the sensor.
Hopefully this helps. Thanks

Hello,
I'm attaching a more clear and precise exploded view sorry about this because there is a difference in locations between the 1.8L and the 2.0L. It can be confusing to even an expert but this should clear it up. Let us know if this was helpful and if you need any more information.
Thank you
Joe T.

Finally! ! Much appreciated duffdiver but it didn't turn off my SES light. With a code p1126 i was so sure with a new thermostat and new ECT sensor it would've done the trick. What am i missing? Please

Hello,
Make sure the seal on thermostat itself is sealing and no coolant is getting around it. The engine has to reach 140 Fahrenheit or above. I know on a Nissan if a genuine Nissan thermostat isn't used it can cause the MIL light to come on because calibration of the thermistor is different .Check the coolant with a hand held infrared thermometer on the the thermostat housing it has to maintain 140 Fahrenheit or higher at operating temperature at all time. I attached a repair guide on the cooling system below. Let us know if this was helpful or if you need more info.
