Code P0444 - frayed wire

Sorry typo - P0444 .

Unfortunately, you will need what is called a connector kit. Basically this is a replacement connector (portion circled) and it will come with new wires sticking out the back. Then you take those and solder them to the existing harness.

The other alternative to repair this and not replace the entire harness that this is a part of is to take the connector apart and replace the wire itself.

You best bet is to find a connector for it. Based on the code I suspect this is the purge solenoid. If it is, you need to look for a "2013 Sorento purge solenoid connector" on the internet and then order that. It will only be about $15.

I did a quick search and found a few options. See attached. However, you will need to do your own search just to make sure you are getting the part that matches your vehicle. I don't want you to order something I found and it was wrong because I didn't select the correct one or something. However, this is what it will look like. That will give you plenty of wire to solder with.

Well, it looks online that the part exists and shows up compatible for the 4 cylinder. But when I input our car - EX 6 cylinder 3.5L - it doesn’t come up. Any chance the part would still work you think?

Unfortunately it appears they will not work. Clearly the purge solenoids are different but if the connectors were the same you could have used it. Unfortunately the lock tabs are different so it will not work.

However, check out this website. I am not positive about this but it appears this is a replacement solenoid that comes with a jumper harness. Basically if you have the 2.4L it appears you need the jumper harness to plug it into your existing harness. If you have the 3.5L then you would not use the jumper harness and plug your harness directly into the solenoid.

The point is, you only need the jumper harness and not the solenoid so you can cut the other connector off and use the one with the wires that I circled as it appears this is the one that fits your vehicle. Clearly this is more expensive but is cheaper and easier then an entire harness.

Your other option is to call around to the salvage yards and see if they have a 2.4L and you can go cut the connector off of that vehicle.
