Code P0420

I took my son's car to O'Riellys for a diagnostic because the check engine came on and one of the codes that came up was P0420. Is that the catalytic converter or the O2 sensor? Thanks

Good afternoon.

This is a code for the catalytic converter itself. The internals are worn out and it needs to be replaced.
