P0299 underboost code?

Hi,

As far as the code, it indicates an under boost. Yes, it could be related to the waste gage and a few other things. For example, a faulty bypass solenoid, wastegate actuator, and so on can be the problem. It could be something as simple as a loose connection on the intake duct, a leak between the turbo and the throttle body, or something restricting air flow. Have you checked to make sure there are no leaks in the charge air tube or anywhere in the turbo system?

What I suggest is this. Because different things can be the cause, we need to do some diagnosing. If you look below, I attached the diagnostics specific to the code. Take a look through them and let me know if you are comfortable performing them. Note, based on some of the testing, I may need to get additional information for you. However, I won't know which way to go until certain tests are completed.

All I have is a obd2 sensor so I can’t control anything hardly. I can clear the code though. I can’t go to a history or anything.

Is there anything else that I could go to check these sensors that it is telling me to to check?

My charge cooler is dented around the bottom could that need to be replaced? It’s not leaking or anything though.

I opened up my turbo and my waste gate is doing what it’s supposed to and there’s no hairline cracks or anything around the holes.

The turbine spins just fine not too free but doesn’t take force to spin it.

Is there a way I could check for air leaks? What’s the best way and what’s the best way to clean the turbo?

As far as testing, without a scan tool, you will need to locate the different sensors and have to manually test them. Is this the only code that is present?
