P0120. Will not accelerate when peddle is pressed.

I have a 2000 ml320, engine code P0120. It will not accelerate when the peddle is pressed. I replace the TPC AKA the peddle sensor. It is located at the end of the accelerator cable. No change. I removed the throttle body, cleaned it and reinstalled. The engine would accelerate to 2k when in park but would not accelerate when in gear. All visible wiring is in good shape.
What next?

That code is for a faulty throttle position sensor, this is consistent with the symptoms you are experiencing.
