Code P0010 after oil change

I got an oil change three days ago to where they put Dexos in my car and not conventional as I have been. Yesterday, my car read a p0010 code. Understanding what it all means, can I have them drain the oil and put back in conventional to correct the issue?

Yes, what happens is the wrong oil weight does not work with the camshaft actuators which causes a correlation codes which is what happened. Here is a guide to help you get the job done yourself:

Thanks Ken, It has been a week now and I am just seeing this response. I took out the intake actuator solenoid, sprayed it down with cleaner, let it dry and reinstalled it. Car runs okay, just some hesitation on the acceleration though. Still, is okay to go ahead and change back to conventional now?

You can use synthetic but use the correct weight oil it should tell you on the oil cap of the engine. Did our response end up in your spam folder?

I kept the Dexos oil in and went on ahead and changed out the VVT solenoid. Replaced it with a brand new one this morning. Went to work Experienced some sluggishness and on the way home the engine light came back on!

Notes/Hints:

Poor maintenance or engine mechanical conditions, such as improper engine oil level, condition and type, worn camshaft timing components, low engine oil pressure, or sludge can effect these codes.
Some Techs are reporting to replace both intake and exhaust solenoid valves to prevent future problems.
Preliminary Tasks:

Repair any CKP sensor, or CMP sensor codes first.
Follow any TSB recommendations.
Verify the ECM has the most up-to-date software and calibrations installed.
Visually inspect the solenoid and ECM harness connectors and circuits for corrosion or poor connections.
Diagnosis:

1. Replace the affected Camshaft Position (CMP) Actuator Solenoid Valve with a high quality part that meets OEM specifications. Clear the code and operate the vehicle under the conditions that set the code.
--> If the code resets, test for open, shorted or high resistance actuator circuits.
--> If no circuit problems found, replace the ECM.
