If there is a lean fuel mixture, yes it can cause a misfire and other drivability issues as well. I will need to know if this has a 4 or 6 cylinder engine.

The idea of a lean fuel mixture usually results from one of two things, an engine vacuum leak or low fuel pressure.

With that in mind, the first thing I suggest is to check for engine vacuum leaks. It isn't uncommon for hoses to come disconnected or gaskets to fail allowing unmetered air to enter the engine. Also, hoses can break or dry rot causing a leak.

If you are unable to locate any leaks, next I would suggest checking the fuel pressure.
