I was told I have a head gasket issue,but the mechanic didn't actually do a test. so i tested on my own and after multiple tests it always comes up negative.i spot no leaks underneath.a new thermostat was put on and i believe a used radiator.and still overheating.

Good afternoon,

A used radiator is a bad idea. It could be clogged from sitting around.

The proper test for a head gasket is a leak down test. That is when you remove the plugs, add shop ait into each cylinder one at a time and look for movement in the radiator by removing the cap.

That is the correct test for a head gasket.

Hello,

Okay, so your vehicle has a new radiator and thermostat and it is still overheating. This sounds like you could have a problem with your vehicle's water pump. In the diagrams down below I have included the step by step instructions from the vehicle manufacturer for the removal and installation of your vehicle's water pump. The timing belt has to be removed to get to the water pump and i highly recommend replacing it as well since you are there. I decided to start keeping track of the time it takes my car to overheat and everytime it is at the 30 minute mark.What does this symptom tell me in terms of what could be causing it?
