Overheated at idle

Hello,

When you say it overheated at idle, how high did the temperature gauge get to?

A little over 3/4 of the gage. So really hot.

But once I am driving the gauge goes all the way to normal or just above normal at the halfway mark. Normally it runs just below halfway. No leaks that I can find, coolant level is at the top of normal range, fans both come on if AC is on (I haven’t checked to see if the fan comes on without AC running), and although I’m sure it doesn’t matter but the starter and battery were both just replaced about a week ago. Prior to that, there was never an overheating issue.

Overheating is when the temperature gauge goes into the red. I understand that this vehicle is your baby and you want no harm to come it's way, I'm a car person too, but that really isn't overheating. Do your engine cooling fans kick on and kick off properly?

Hello again,

Also the temperature gets the hottest when you let your vehicle idle. This is because it is sitting still with no airflow over the engine to cool it. This is why when it climbs to the point when it needs to be cooled, the engine cooling fan comes on, pulling air through the radiator, artificially making it seem like there is air coming over the engine from driving.
