Over heating while stopped and no hot air from heater.

it may be the wire grounding out leading to the sender or maybe air in system since there is no hot air out of the heater.

I was thinking it had to be a bad wire or fuse thanks. I'm taking it to the shop to have them check it out I just don't have all the proper equipment

The heat in my 2005 Nissan Sentra is only working intermittently. The radiator was hot on one side, but cold on the other, so we thought the radiator was clogged so we replaced the radiator and cap (which I think was leaking) and the thermostat. However the radiator is still cold on one side and the heater hoses are cold. When I start driving the heat comes on occasionally.

Check if the water pump is functioning. If so try bleeding it and see what happens

The heater is coming out cold. I completed the antifreeze, changed the thermostat, already changed the temperature sensor. When I unplug the air conditioning system (for testing), the heater works, but when I connect the air conditioner and turn on the heater, cold air comes. I checked the water pump, this good. What can this happening? What can I do?

Someone replaced the thermostat already, still the same problem no heat. I check the temperture of the radiator hoses at 150 degs- The temp of the heater hoses are around 130degs, the vent output temp starts at 120degs after a while the vent temp drops to around 78 degs so I noticed both radiator fans are coming on at the same time an staying on not allowing the engine to get hot so I pulled the fuse for fans the temp does'nt rise for the eng. I even ck the heater door cable for adjustment it seems to close even the s/w for the rec is on so no cold air enter what else should be checked can you please help thank you.

When was the last time you had your cooling system flushed? It is quite possible that your lines to the heater core are full of contaminants and not allowing fresh coolant from the engine from getting into the heater core.

I would suggest that you look into flushing the system, and fill it up with good quality coolant to the right level.

I just bought a Sentra 2001 w/ 150,000 miles. Was getting no heat at all, changed and filled radiator, then thermostat and then water pump. Changed and flushed radiator and still no heat or power.

Bringing it to the garage it suddenly lost power and would buck if I applied gas over 20 mph.

Garage says I blew head gasket but no white smoke. What do you think. Please Help!

If it's running fine, I would try flushing the heater core. Look under the hood, find the hose from the water pump that goes to the heater core near the firewall. Also find the return line for the heater core. With them both unhooked, attach a garden hose to one end (clamps, duct tape, whatever holds it) and turn it on. You should only be flushing the heater core and not the block. You may get wet, and with some coolant. If you can't get a good flow, the core may be severely blocked. Possibly try flushing the other way. If still no succcess, try pouring in some CLR and waiting for the substance to take effect. If still no avail, buy a heater core. But only do any of this if your car is running just fine but you have no heat. Thanks!

Thanks guys, Ill know more more tomorrow when I get it back from the garage.They said it was the headgasket, we shall see.

you can't rule out the heater core if the hoses are hot. It doesn't mean it's going straight through it. You can get pressure from the water pump on one side and expansion from the block side on the other hose. Also, you can get partial blockage which will only allow a trickle of coolant to get through, but will still make the hoses hot.

Will let you know if I find a solution. Would you do the same?

We found that there is a bleeder bolt around the thermostat housing. It is a a 10mm bolt that has blue paint on it. Bleeding the system solved the problem

I have a 2006 Nissan Sentra that I am having some problems with. The other day while driving home i noticed my check engine light blinked on and then when back off (now on always). The next morning after I started vehicle it was running rough until I got going. Every time since it is now running rough at startup. I also notice today that I have no interior heat. I checked the fluids and notice reservoir was all the way to top but after cooling was below min.

From some of my reading I am thinking I have a bad head gasket. Does anyone know how I could confirm this? Any other advice?

PS: I see no discoloring in oil or oil in cooling system.

I was doing more research today and also found many of my symptoms are also related to a bad water pump.
Water overflowing.
No heat in cabin
Overheating and temperature spikes.

Now I am really confused what the issue is. Going to take a closer look at the water pump and see what I can see.

After a lot of research I determined the problem was the head gasket. To ensure this was the problem I removed the thermostat and ran the car until it got hot. As soon as it did it started blowing bubbles into the reservoir.

That being said it took me about 12 hours to install a new head gasket. While I was there I went ahead and put a new water pump on and thermostat.

The car is now running like a charm without any other problems.

Problem Solved - Bad Head Gasket with only 75k miles on car!

Took my car into Canadian Tire because the heater was blowing cold air. Also the car was heating up occasionally. When I came to a stop the needle went up and just randomly. sometimes the heat would come on when driving but always cold when stopped. THey replaced thermostat and flushed coolant system. But they could not get air lock out.
They have now kept my car over weekend to work on and hope to have it ready for Monday!
What is going on?

your car needs to be idled for about 1 hour at 1500rpm with the radiator cap off. have someone around with a gallon of antifreze water mix. what happens here is that when the thermostat was sticking it put a suction on the resivor next to the firewall. one thing to remember that when a car overheats the radiator produces steam. one gallon of water = 30 gallons of steam. make sure to use precaustion when doing this prociedure. can exceed 210 degreese that can cause 3rd degree burns. make sure that when the car is running at these rpm that there is constant water in the resivor or in the radiator. failure to do so could lead to more air being pulled into the system.

1. I own a 2003 Nissan Sentra GXE and my heater is not working. Hot air blows out at first but for only a few seconds then it turns cold. I'm not sure what it might be.....
2. Also.... my engine temp keeps going up and back down to the middle where it normally is. It does this when I'm in traffic and when I'm going even going down the street at about 20 to 35 mph. I also noticed that today it also did the same thing when I was in the highway when I was going anywhere from 40 to 65 mph. I have already changed my thermastat and still the same thing.

when you have a misfire and combine that with over heating and coolant lose always make it 1st to check the head gasket

when i start my car the heat doesnt work unless i reach above 2500 + rpm then it will work if i set and idle for a minute or so it stops working again

i changed thermostat and flushed the system and drained the air as iit states in the manual

what next

Coolant flowing through radiator at op. temp.? Top rad. hose get hot and firm at idle?

My heat does not work on levels 1,2, or 3 but on 4 it blows air but doesn't get hot, it does get warm through.

Replace your blower motor resistor.

Check your antifreeze level. Make sure it is full, and at the right strength.

My heater gets hot only when the car is moving. when I slow down or stop the heater goes cold. what is the problem?

This is most commonly caused by a partially clogged radiator. Need to have cooling system / radiator flushed and refilled.
