Cracked outlet duct tube, code P0442

Hey, my engine light came on I when to AutoZone code P0442 came up. So i changed the purge control valve. But then I notice that there was a crack in the Outlet duct tube. I was wondering will the crack in the outlet duct tube cause cause the engine light to come on?

If the outlet tube that you are talking about is part of the EVAP system then yes. It will definitely cause the light to come on. This code is indicating a small evap leak and that is normally a cracked line or a seal leaking in the purge. I would change it out just to be sure. Thanks
