Outer tire wear loss of stability

Do you see excessive wear on just one tire or both on the same axle? Has the suspension system been inspected? The best place for that is at a tire and alignment shop.

Its wear on outer left rear and inner right rear. I had new tires put on and alignment, but the shop never corrected it. Im trying to avoid a bmw dealer. I was wondering how to test for excessive play in rear suspension.

The only way to get wear on the same edges, (left side on both tires), is if "camber" is wrong on both wheels. That is an alignment issue. There's an adjustment on the lateral link, but it affects camber and toe, so you can't change just one without readjusting the other. The link has an eccentric at the outer end, under the shock absorber.

One thing to consider is the lock nut for that eccentric can only be tightened a few times, then it is supposed to be replaced. If that has worked loose, it will allow the alignment to change while you're driving. That can make for a real miserable car to drive.
