1986 Oldsmobile Regency 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive
Can I check for timing chain skippage on this car with just a VOM as a diagnostic tool? It doesn't have a conventional distributor and the valve lifters won't lift to give me any indication of compression TDC just by bumping the motor over a few degrees at a time.
I take it the timing sensor is magnetic rather than physical opening and closing points. and no rotor you can see the position of.
Based on that I was told, for some reason the last guy who repaired this car last didn't replace the suspicious timimg tensioner when he was last in there.
