pitted windshield

The windshield of my 1997 Olds LSS is pitted from being driven in blowing sand. Can the pits be "buffed" out? Driving into the sun with this condition makes it very difficult to see.

Hey there , glad to see the car is still running , as far as the windshield they can be buffed for scratches , the pits i hate to say may not be , i would check around for windshield prices they are fairly cheap and probably not much more than buffing
