I have a 94 oldsmobile silhouette and the air conditioning unit is making a whining noise all the time. It still blows relatively cold air and I can still hear the compressor kick on and off. I don't know if there is anything inside the compressor ie...bearings that would go bad over time or not. Everyone keeps pointing me towards the clutch but I'd like to know for sure if there is a way I can tell.
My question is how can I tell if it's the clutch making the noise or if it's the compressor itself?
If it is the clutch, how do I remove it? Is there some sort of clutch removel/puller I can purchase?
