Last straw with new stereo for my Achieva

After repeated failures and crosswires, I got a volt meter and checked every connection I had made for my new stereo. Every one was fine and working. Except one.

The positive line direct from the battery never reads any power with the car off, on, or running. So far, I've been told that it mus be disconnected, shorted, or (most likely) it has an inline fuse that is blown.

I'm good with electronics and wires, but am a car novice. How do I best go about tracing that wire, and where about should I expect to find that fuse?

if you can not find the wire, check where the fuses are, you could try running another wire from the hot side of the fuse box{ power that is there all the time} and run another wire to the stereo, put the inline fuse by the fuse box. make sure you tape off the end of the old wire

That could definitely work, but I can identify the wire, starting with the wire harness and going back into my dash. Just wanted to know where the best place to start tracing it and taking things apart would be. The dash? or begin under the hood with the battery.

I just may try running from the hot side, at least temporarily until I can track the defunct wire.

do you have the diagram that came with the stereo?
check the wires at the radio, find the one that the power is suppose to go to, clip the wire and attach a wire run it to the fuse box, with a inline fuse run it to a wire that has a constant power going into the fuse box. that way you don't have to take the dash apart to find the wire until you have time.

That sounds like what I'll do. Or I'll to to the 12v constant in the steering column. There are plenty of diagrams of that out there for wiring keyless start and security systems.
