My car is 1993 Oldsmobile Ciera 4dr sedan, 3.3l engine, 3-speed transmission. It has 44500 original miles. My problem is the dashboard that is loose and rattles, BADLY. I removed the front speakers covers and saw that the plastic around bolts is gone, I assume it cracked at first and later simply broke away around the bolts trough wich the dash is attached to the car. I suspect the only thing holding the dash is the steering column. Please please please advise me if there is any fix for this problem as i'm sure it is a common problem for cieras of my model. Greatly appreciate it!

Hey Alex,
This can be fixed in a few different ways ...... you can buy the OEM securing hardware and fix it that way or you can "engineer" your own type of hardware, either way the dash needs to be disassembled and secured properly to get rid of the noise. Let us know!

took it to mechanik, he confirmed that the plastik trough wich the dash is bolted broke away, basicle steering column is the only thing that held the dash. he said he found only one spot trough which he could drill a hole on the right side of the dash (under the speaker cover), but it is not going to last long the plastic there wil crack soon too. Says I need a new dash. ???. first time I hear something like this. unbeleivable. Is it really my only option, to get the new dash? Please advise and thanks for replying.

Hey Alex,
I'm sure there are plenty of spots to re-secure the dash!!!! You may also have to use some small L-type brackets or something of that nature! Let me know!
