Alternator 2.4L, 4cl

I have a 2000 oldsmobile alero and I was coming home and the car just shut off. So I tried to start it back up and the lights came on like it wanted to start, but it hesitated and shut off again. Do you think the alternator went out?

I forgot to put the mileage is 149,000, 4 door.

Well I have a 92 with the same problem at one point. Chances are your strut is bad. Good guess. Or the upper control arm or lower but chances are just a strut. About 125 installed. No more i would pay.
