I just bought my 2002 Olds Bravada, I-6,4.2L Vortec, 65,000 miles. Just after the warranty period expired, my car started missing or stuttering, just during low demand driving, say at 40mph or so, when not really accellerating. Then this weekend, after a long driving trip, it started doing it on the highway, too. Seems to be getting worse, especially after car warms up. Tried dropping it into 3rd, didn't do it then. Any ideas?

It needs troubleshooting, we can have changing possible parts, but without testing, it could get expensive. IS the fuel filter original? IF so, the fuel pump may be weak from trying to push fuel through a plugged filter.
May want to check the codes in the computer as it may lead us to the promised land.

I had the fuel filter changed, it still does the same thing...only after the vehicle is fully warmed up. Kind of a jerking, or hesitation, doens't do it when coasting.

Had the codes checked, nothing showed up....my nephew is in auto tech school....says he thinks it is the transmission not "locking" into overdrive, slipping in and out. Would a transmission flush help this if this is the problem? He seems to think so.....but I realize he is a student....(he also says new filter along with flush)

Well, we are all students of auto repair regardless of experience

If you haven't replace the transmission filter, he is giving you good advice. I don't know that will or won't help, but it is something that should be done regardless. If it takes care of it, it's bonus.
