k heres my problem when i turn the ignition over it does nothing and the key locks in the ignition and i have to release it with the safety switch, i can also hear a clicking from the solenoid which leads me to believe thats what i need to replace and i was just making sure i buy the right part.

i would first try jumping the car with a fresh battery to rule out just a weak cell in one of yours, you can also run a wire from the positive on a seperate car to the starter solenoid which will bypass the ignition system, to see if it is again a weak battery and if it still does the same then yes i would look into working on the starter

i'll give that a shot but why would the key lock in the ignition i've never seen that before
