I have a 1998 Olds Silhouette 3400cc V6 that has oil spewing from the oil filter. It was running fine and had no leak when I parked it, but the next morning when I cranked it up, oil began spewing from the oil filter. I've changed the filter (3 times) and still have the same result, losing about 1/2 quart in 15 seconds.
Any ideas?

What i do know:
The 3.4 motor are common for an intake leak that can cause leakage, oil or coolant consumption.
What I don't know:
If the leak can cause a compression of the oil and forcing it out like it is.

Hi Oldsvan1--

:?: Are you sure you're getting the right replacement filter--same threads, seal? Are you making sure the old seal is removed from the engine when you install the new one?

If all these check out you may want to check your oil pressure. The oil pressure relief valve(if it has one)may be sticking closed causing higher than normal oil pressure. Is the filter actually ruptured?
