ok guys here is one for you. I have a 1995 oldsmobile cutlass ciera with about 140,000 miles. Just replaced the front wiring harness, fuel pump, fuel strainer, and fuel filter. Also did a major tune up recently (plugs, wires, filters, etc...) Well the major conundrum is it will no longer crank. My wife was driving down the lane and ran out of gas, we stopped and got some gas in a can and put in about five gallons. went to turn it over and that is all it did, it did not even try to catch and run.

I went through meticulously checking all fuses, relays, and electrical stuff. I checked the fuel pump and it was coming on, so i checked the filter, and the fuel flow was pretty strong. I checked if the car was firing and of course it was. Im not sure, but i dont think it could be a timing chain issue as she just simply gave out of gas, but I could be wrong.

I have asked several mechanics around the area and they all dont seem to have an answer. I have already spent over 700 dollars on this hunk of junk and I do not want to spend much more on it, as if I were to sell it now, I would never get what i have put in it over the last few weeks. HELPPPP!!!!!!!!!!

I would desperately appreciate any input any of you can give me!

***EDIT***

I was also wondering if there was some sort of fuel cut off switch that would stop the fuel from getting from the fuel filter to the engine. I know there is some on a lot of fords and a few others, but not sure if there is one on mine. If there is can you tell me where it is.

3.1 motor?

Any codes?

Spray carb cleaner into the throttle body and crank it?

Pull a plug to see if it was gas soaked?

Did you actually check the pressure of the fuel?

No cut off switch on these.

Just to clarify..It turns over(cranks) but doesn't start..correct?

yes 3.1

not sure about any codes yet as we are having a mechanic check on it tomorrow

did spray carb cleaner in it and it did crank for a few seconds and then shut off

didnt think of checking the plug to see if it was soaked but will do that in the morning

having fuel pressure checked tomorrow also when it gets to the shop but it was pretty strong when it was coming out of the filter when checking flow.

and yes you are correct it turns over but will not run

will let you know what codes and pressure is as soon as I find out.

due to a worn out motor mount one of the plugs that controls fuel delivery on the fuel rail vibrated out of place and was keeping the car from running.

replaced the motor mount today and plugged the plug back in and all is well.

thanks for all the help!

This plug is on the engine block, it is called the oil pressure fuel pump switch. Check the image below to see what I am talking about.
