1993 oldsmobile ciera running problem

so i have a 1993 ciera v6 with 75000 miles. the problem im having is that when the vehicle is cold the vehicle will not start but if i attempt to give it gas while attempting to start after probably a minute or so it will attempt to start and stumble and then eventually start. once it does start the idle goes high for a second then comes down levels out and then begins to drop like its losing fuel pressure or something then stumbles and dies unless of course i keep it running. but what is weird that this is all until it warms up. once it warms up it will idle. but when you go to accelerate it has major power loss but then the car will take off and drive fine but you just dont have all the power you should. i thought maybe the idle air sensor or throttle position i swapped those out and it did nothing. the person i bought it from put a new o2 sensor in and a mass air flow sensor in and i cleaned out the throttle body

any ideas?

I have the same problem on an Oldsmobile 96 Cutlass Ciera SL. Just put $1,400 in it to pass inspection, and when I drove it home, I found that I had the same problems you mentioned.

Engine racing when it should idle, then dropping to low levels almost to the point of a chug. Acceleration problems (very inconsistent... sometimes it'd accelerate ok, other times it's very slow... twice it stopped accelerating altogether while going around 30MPH).

The problem has gotten worse... my friend and I tampered with a couple things, and then it started stalling. Now, it won't start at all!

We just replaced the mass airflow sensor and MAP sensor, and it still won't start. Yesterday, it'd start and run, but would stall out. One time it stalled out it wouldn't start back up for a couple minutes. Now, today, it won't start at all... :-(

Any ideas? Feel free to e-mail me directly if you figure anything out. I'm getting desperate...

I have a 90 model with 59000 miles on it and it did the same thing last month with the exception that it was after it warmed up it did that. Turned out to be the Fuel pressure regulator. Just something else you could check into. Im no mechanic by any means but thought i would share that.

My fuel pump *does* hum... but I don't know much about how it works. I'm bringing it to the mechanic tomorrow... I'll let you know if I figure anything out.

Oh, the car is putting out a couple error codes too. One of them is for the MAS (which I replaced today), and the other is a vague description. Searching for it on-line yielded a few different varying definitions. One of which mentioned the camshaft position sensor... which my friend thinks could very well be the issue.

Like I said, I'll let you know what I find out.
