I HAVE A 2000 OLDSMOBILE INTRIGUE. THERE IS STEERING FLUID IN THE CAR. I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING. THE STEERING WHEEL BECOMES VERY TIGHT AND HARD TO MOVE WHEN I AM PARKING INTO A PARKING SPACE OR BETWEEN 2 CARS. ANYTIME I HAVE TO CUT MY WHEELS THE STEERING WHEEL BECOMES TIGHT AND HARD TO TURN. IT IS NOT SO BAD IN THE MORNINGS MAKING AVERAGE TURNS , BUT AS THE DAY GOES ON, THE STEERING WHEEL BECOMES HARDER AND HARDER TO TURN, AND THAT IS JUST ON YOUR AVERAGE RIGHT OR LEFT TURN. IF I HAVE TO PARK BETWEERN 2 CARS NEAR THE END THE DAY IT IS EXTREMEMLY TIGHT AND HARD TO TURN THE WHEEL AND THERE IS A NOISE THAT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING IS BEING STRESSED WHEN CUTTING THE WHEEL AND PARKING. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS COULD BE???
PLEASE PLEASE SOMEONE RESPOND. JES

Despite the fact there is fluid in it, the steering rack could be on its way out, or the pump or the ball joints could be seizing. Best bet is to take it to someone you trust and they could check line pressures of the rack or pump and properly diagnose. Very difficult to diagnose without seeing it.

hi, it was the rack and pinions, there was even a slow leak of power steering fluid, so the steering rack and pinions was replaced, and the front end aligned. it is steering much better now, still a little stiff, but nothing like it was before, thanks for the reply,,,,, jess
