I bought this car about 5 months ago. Runs great but oil was super black so I took it to a Jiffy Lube type place for an oil change about 3 months ago (and 3000 miles ago). They suggested using sythetic oil because of the cars high mileage. I agreed, when I got home my boyfriend agreed also and the car has been running great. NOw it is time for another oil change (oil is again super black) and my boy friend wants to change it himself. We have had several local auto parts store employees tell us that going sythetic was a huge mistake and that now we cannot go back to regular oil. Please help us decide which way to go. I want this car to last as long as possible and everyone seems to have a different opinion on sythetic versus regular. Thank You.

Hello,

Well honestly I don't see what all the hype is about. I know some people who alternate and have had no problems. If you have any doubts you can replace with regular oil and just add 1 quart of an oil additive like lucas, slick 50, duralube for example to every oil change. That is what I do. Times are tough and money is tight for most everyone. And Synthetic Oil is expensive.

Hope this helped.
