I have a 1997 Oldsmobile cutlass with a 3.1 liter V6, automatic transmission, front brakes are discs and rear brakes are drum, ABS brakes, and has about 207,000 miles.

The check engine light nor any warning lights are on. The car sat over this last winter and when I started driving it a couple weeks ago I noticed the front brake calipers cylinders were frozen (they wouldn't release from the rotors). I replaced both calipers and that solved that solved the frozen brake problem. I bled the front brakes but I didn't have any brake pressure (soft peddle). I figured that I needed to bleed the back brakes as well. After many hours of trying to get off rusted on bleeder screws, I bled
the back brakes and then the front brakes again. After all this I still didn't have any brake pressure.

When the car is on and I pump the brakes, I will eventually get brake pressure, but it goes away as soon as I take my foot off the brake and put on the gas.

I have been told it might be because of the ABS brakes, or it might be a problem with the master cylinder. I'm not exactly sure what to do. I don't want to go out and buy a new master cylinder if that's not the problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If the rear brakes are properly adjusted, then chances are the master cylender has gone bad. THe ABS will not cause this type of problem.
