When reading this stupid question, please keep in mind, I am a girl! With that said, the timing belt tensioner on my 94' Olds Cutlass broke, but thats not the real problem. The real problem is that where the little roller-ball looking thing on the end of it goes into, it completely cracked off of where it was connected to the engine. My question is, is there a plate(or something) that connects to the engine that the tensioner connects to? In order to repair this, does the entire engine need to come out? Im sure none of this made a bit of sense, but on the off-chance that it did, I would be ever so greatful for any help offered. Thank you!

Do you mean the serpentine belt tensioner? The timing belt is not visible without removing the timing cover? If so, buy a new tensioner, with pulley, and new serpentine belt...
