1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Car Shuts Off, then won't start

Need to check for spark and fuel pressure to see where to start with this.Is the check engine light on?If so need to scan PCM for codes, might not be a bad idea anyway

Here's how to check those codes...

Cross these two terminals as shown, then turn the key on. Count the flashes, a 22 will flash as 2 flashes then a short pause, then 2 flashes, if more than one code is stored, the pause will be longer. The codes will display three times and end with 12. Write them down and post here.

No, engine light not on. Has spark, but no compression. Like it is not getting gas. So, it won't restart until it sits overnight. When it did start, it runs for about an hour, then just shuts off and stops.

The car just shuts off when driving, then will not restart. It sat several days ago, then started like nothing was wrong. But, on the way home, it shut off again while slowing for a stop sign, and I had to have it towed.[/quote:4f45419b6d]

No, the Engine Light is not on. It has spark, but, no compression. Like it is not getting gas. It slows, then shuts off while driving, and will not restart. After sitting overnight, it starts up and runs for about an hour, then repeats the shutting off, and not restarting.

Check fuel pressure with a manual gauge when it wont start, sound like the pump may be going out
