1994 Oldsmobile Ciera

Hello,
My son's Ciera's heat/defrost fan does not work. Is this something we can fix ourselves?
Thanks You

Perhaps, if you're handy with a few basics.

Of course, you should check the fuse first.

If it's good, use a circuit tester to make sure power is reaching the blower motor (on the passenger-side firewall). If it is, the motor comes out with just a few sheet metal screws around the flange.

However, if you have a V-6 engine, there might not be enough clearance to pull the fan blades out of the housing unless you shift the power steering pump out of the way. That requires removing the serpentine belt and removing the four 1/2-inch bolts holding the pump in place. One is on the back of the pump, attaching a brace, which you'll also have to loosen at its other end with a 10mm wrench. The other three steering pump bolts are reached through the holes in the pulley.

Leave the hydraulic fluid lines attached and keep the pump upright so the fluid doesn't spill out of the reservoir.
