Had the CV axles replaced. Truck drove good for about 15 minutes. then the slight rumbling / vibration started. Made it home after 25 miles total. took the truck out again a few hours later, started same noises after about 10 minutes driving. got home and turned into driveway and GRINDing noise and clicking consistent with speed... then a high pitched whirring noise for about 15 seconds (almost like an electronic whirring noise is best way to describe it).... ANY ideas? I'm real worried about this and don't know what to do besides limping it into the shop. Would a bad U-joint or bad hub bearing make really odd noises like that? It sounds exactly the same as it did before I got the CV axles changed!

if it didn't do it before you took it there tak it back. the person may have left something loose like an axle shaft and it could work back and forth causing the noise. those are very hard to diagnose on here so it should go back to the shop. Of course it might be something completely different as well....

thanks for your time in answering my post. I brought it back to the shop, and it ended up being the front drive shaft (form the transfer case to the differential). the rear joint(another CV joint) was seized up according to the mechanic. hopefully that's all the problems I have with it for now!
