Transmission problem
1996 Oldsmobile Bravada 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic
Hello,
I recently bought a 1996 Bravada. It has a bad tranny so I bought a wrecked 1995 Chevy S10 4x4. The bravada has the automatic all wheel/4 wheel drive "Smartrak" system and the S10 has the push button on the dash 2WH, 4WH and 4WL.
I have been told that swapping the tranny should be no problem but there were questions as to whether the transfer case of the S10 would fit and work properly in the Bravada.
I would much prefer having the push button S10 control and option for the 4WL that comes with it. Will it work both mechanically and electronically? Will the computer accept the new unit and not have the "Check Engine" light staying on? I can't get the vehicle inspected if that light stays on.
I got burned by the guy who sold me the Bravada and just bought the whole S10 wreck for the parts and hope that you can help me get all this information so I can proceed.
Thanks
Peter
