1998 Oldsmobile Aurora Car Fires first time when cold, Take

My Aurora has recently started to concern me. When you first start the car after it hasn't ran for hours and is completely cool it fires immediately. But when the car has been running and is warm, once the engine is shut down (to run into a store, etc.) when you go to fire it back up it takes 3 to 4 attempts. Once the engine is running it is perfectly fine. Occassionally the car will backfire before it starts when you are cranking the engine several times (only when the engine is warm though). Any tips or advice would be appreciated.
