Computer problem
2004 Oldsmobile Alero 4 cyl Automatic 76,000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
check engine light came on so I thought the gas cap wasn't on tight. I put gas in the car then I put the gas cap on tighter the engine light went off. But now the engine light went on again so I read information check engine light it said go to autozone and they can tell me the code number. I thinlk the problem is that the oring is missing when I put the gas cap on it does have any suction and the gas cap doesn't get tight. Can I go and buy a ring and gas cap and put it on myself. If I take it to the dealer they will do a test anyway because they will tell me that they would not guarantee their work.

go to a junk yard and get a gas cap off of any vehicle and check and see if their oring will fit you. you can order a gas cap from the dealership also but it will cost you!
