The problem is that when it's running on any setting the blower motor makes an awful noise like it's grinding, but the heat and air both work just fine. Sometimes it seems like it gets worse the longer it runs. I was told by one place that it might be the resistor, and another place told me it's the blower motor itself. Also, the settings for the fan in the car aren't set right. Even if it's set to off it still blows air out. Not sure if these things are related. How much would something like this cost to fix if I took it somewhere?

The resister won't cause the noise, but it can have an affect on the motor speed or if it will work. I would say the motor is bad if it is making noise.
