there are 2 coolant temp sensors, one is on the thermostat housing and the other, I need to know where it is. My Alero did it before and now it is doing it again. Temp gauge says, no temp (0), both coolings fans are running, heater blows hot air. Coolant level is fine.
Any / all info would be appreciated.

I don't think you hve 2 of them, the other one you're looking for might be the engine coolant level switch. I looked-looked there's no other one.

new to this site. So.. I am jerry z and I replaced the sensor near the water pump (temp sensor) It made no difference, still both fans running and gauge says cold.. Next step, I guess, where is the sensor that tells the fan(s) to run? Car is running a little cool but plenty hot enought to melt the ice on the windshield. So I am not worried about overheating the engine. ? 1 circut open, the other closed?

I can't help with the answer, but have the same problem. Summer is not a problem - when i move my heater to cool, the theromostat starts working again, fans go off, life is good. Does not make sense to me. Got my computer read, po 128 and 140. Have read it might be an O2 sensor and that is a quick, cheap replacement, so I'm going to start there next week. I've only put this off 2 years now...if you found anything else, let me know.

I had olds on a tester. Only thing wrong, coolant temp was low. Both fans running. I took the fuses out for both cooling fans. Wolla, temp gauge working. replace fuses and now everything is ok. ----info, when AC is turned on, both fans run. Left fan is used for all else, cooling. Just another one of those, take apart, put back together and it is 'fixed'
