2000 Oldsmobile Alero Smells of exahaust when running heat

When I run the heat or air conditioning, it smells like exhaust. I've been to the mechanic and he said he's checked some things and everything seems to be fine. I did notice that it's only when I'm stopped and when the car isn't warmed up. As soon as I start driving it goes away.

Any ideas????

My first thought is: you have an exhaust leak some where under the hood and it's finding it's way into the fresh air intake for the heater/ac. You may want to have this checked.
