Hi. This car seems to be running fine, but the check engine light is on. I scanned it for codes and received 027 (quad driver b fault) and 035 (idle control valve not seeing rpm). I have replaced the idle control valve and ecm module. When codes are cleared, they return within 20 seconds of re-starting car. Sometimes only one of the codes will pop up, sometimes both do. Any suggestions?

Check the wiring to the canister purge solenoid, and the solenoid. I will email the troubleshooting flow chart via email, you wont be able to read it otherwise.

Can you please tell me where to find the canister purge solenoid that you refer to? The flowchart looks like it will help once I have located the solenoid. Also, the flowchart refers to using a "Tech 1 Tester" which I am not familiar with. I do have an OBD I and and OBD II scanner. Thanks for your help.

You will most likley either need to have OLds dealer check it, or take a shot and replace it, the tester is a GM shop tool. Or test it with an ohm meter and a hand held vacuum pump: Canister Purge Solenoid (Normally Closed) 1. Disconnect canister purge solenoid harness connector and vacuum hose. Apply 10 in. Hg to ported intake manifold vacuum side of solenoid valve. If vacuum holds, go to next step. If vacuum does not hold, replace canister purge solenoid. 2. Using a 12-volt power source, energize canister purge solenoid. Vacuum should release. If vacuum does not release, replace canister purge solenoid. Solenoid resistance should be at least 20 ohms. Page 1 of 1 3/1/2010 ... It's located on the top right front of the engine, # 10 in the diagram.

Hi. Thanks for your help, but I am still having the same problem. I changed the purge solenoid but the car is still throwing a code 035, "idle air control problem, cant set rpm". When the car is idling, the rpm's are fluctuating. I have checked for vacuum leaks, changed IAC valve, and tested the MAP sensor. When the car is in drive, the check engine light goes off but immediately comes back on when the car is placed in park. When driving, it sometimes runs just fine and sometimes has fluctuating rpms resulting in a lope. Any additional advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.
