1991 Oldsmobile 98

My speedometer just stopped working while I was driving right after my car suddenly cut off(I pulled off the road and restarted it fine). I then noticed that my AC was not cold. When I came to a stop the vehicle was sluggish in take off, but reached max speed limit with no problem. The next morning all was fine. The speedometer worked and the AC was cold. Now it did it again, but has not "self-corrected". Any ideas?

Has the check engine light come on? Also, there could be a problem with the speed sensor. Have that checked.

Is the AC cold again?

They said they put it on several machines, but have yet to give me a definitive answer. This is the third day in the shop.

Without a code, it becomes a guessing game. I have to ask, have they checked fuel pressure?

Whatever they did, they didn't write anything on the workorder. I just picked my car up and it drove just fine all the way home (about 5 miles) and the AC was "ice cold". I guess it fixed itself again. They only charged me $68 bucks, but that's $68 bucks I no longer have and in the same place where I started. I guess I'll continue to drive it until it leaves me stranded.

I understand your frustration. And I agree, the 68.00 is better in your pocket than theirs.

If I provide you with directions, would you be able to check the fuel pressure? All you need is a gauge and most nationally recognized parts stores will lend the tool to you.

Let me know.
