1995 Oldsmobile 88 80000 miles

I need to know the bolt size on the brake light mounting. I tried an m6 as that seemed to match in the parts store but the fit is too loose. I had one miscellaneous bolt I found that fits perfectly. This is the bolt that screws into the brake assembly that mounts to the tail light bracket.

Imnot sure exactly which bolt you are describing, but for most GM vehicles, you will need a 1/4 standard or 5.5mm, 7mm,8mm 10mm for the interior screws, bolts

Good answer I tried 6 mm too small even though the old bolt fit the 6mm template at the parts place, I get some 7mm and try those although I thought I tried those. maybe not. 8 mm are definitely too big. I will have to look around since finding 7mm has been tough in a city of over 1 million people!

Try 1/4. To this day they still mix up standard and metric on interior and trim parrts

7mm or 9/64 are common on GM auto's, usually tail lights are fastened with 10mm metal speed nuts.
