just changed the oil, when the car is idling pressure is 60 when i accelerate the needle on the oil pressure gauge goes all the way past the highest reading on the gauge

OK, i would get the oil pressure tested with a mechanical gauge, if it is going sky high you will have a stuck pressure relief valve.
