Steering problem
1986 Oldsmobile 442 V8 Two Wheel Drive 220000 miles

I have been having a real hard time finding a pump for my 442. Everyone I have found does not have the correct bolt pattern on the pump reservoir. Let me explain: If you are looking at the power steering reservoir on the side where the fluid goes into the reservoir my reservoir has a 5/8 bolt sticking out on the bottom that attaches both parts of the bracket system together. Now the problem I am having is every pump/reservoir I find for sale does not have this bolt in this spot. My question is this: Is this bolt removable and can I move it to a new pump if the hole is there or do I need to try to rebuild this one? I do not have any experience rebuilding these pumps but I am sure I can work through it if I need to. If I need to rebuild, can you help me find a good source to assist me in this adventure. I hope you can help direct me on this, I really need to get this car back on the road. I could take it to a mechanic but I want to learn to fix it myself. Thanks for you help!

yOur pump should be a saginaw pump and the bolt should be removable. Try looking at a chevy or pontiac pump and the resivoir should change to those pumps as well.
