Code p0721, where is the output shaft speed sensor located?

Hi,

It is toward the front of the vehicle, mounted on the transmission. If you look at pics 1 and 2 below, that is what I was able to find to help locate it.

As far as the removal and installation is concerned, it is very simple. I attached the directions below as well. There is an O-ring on the sensor. When you install the new one, make sure everything is clean and free of corrosion on the transmission. Also, lubricate the o-ring with transmission fluid before installing it.

Just an extra thought. Take your time when removing the old one. They can corrode and be difficult to remove. Take your time and gently wiggle the sensor while pulling outward.

So, it’s not beside the transmission dip stick towards the left? But upfront closer to the radiator up that way? Because a Honda guy says it’s where the transmission dip stick is, and he said if you look towards the left it’s right there beside the dip stick of the transmission.

Okay, I found it, I have to take the air filter off to get to it right it’s under the air filter.

My car is jerking buckles at times my RPMs are going up my d light blinks. Well, I took it to Advance Auto Parts and a code came up saying p0721 it’s an output shaft speed sensor to the transmission. I bought a speed sensor, but I don’t know where it’s located. A guy said it’s on top of the motor and it’s located beside the transmission dip stick towards the left, is that true? Do you have any pictures or videos?

Sure, the output shaft speed sensor is located on the case of the transmission. here are three images and instructions on how to change it out. Check out the images (below). Let us know if you need anything else.

Hi,

According to the manual, a P1733 indicates shift solenoid D is stuck on. That can be caused by a few things including dirt. Is the transmission shifting properly?

I attached the directions below for diagnosing it. Read through the directions and let me know if you are comfortable performing them.

The RPMs are going up at times and the Honda will kick back like buckle back is the transmission going out? The d light is also flashing.

I took it to Honda dealership and they said the transmission is going out but you said it’s the solenoid could be dirty are they just saying that to make me buy a transmission h.

I wish I could call, but I'm not permitted. I'm required to keep everything online. As far as their determination, it is possible the transmission is failing and needs replaced.

Did they explain how they came to that determination? If there is excessive metal or clutch material in the fluid, the manual indicates replacement. But, I don't know if that is what they checked.

Yes, they drain my fluids didn’t see no metal or nothing but they didn’t even said anything that it could be the solenoids going bad or being dirty they didn’t even say that so Iam confused.

Where is the solenoid D at if it was dirty where would I have to change it so you know where it’s located so I could take it off and change it? Because I took it to Honda dealership and put it on a computer they never said anything about a solenoid D that’s what I told them that shaft D was coming up a code.
