I am installing a new oil sensor. There is a plastic shield making access difficult. I want to remove this piece of plastic as it appears useless. Any reason I should not remove the shield?

Hi Susan,

I'm not sure which shield you are referring to or the engine size to see if I can find it in a manual. What size engine does the vehicle have?

Also, is it possible for you to take a pic of the item and upload it for me to see? If it is there, chances are it is important or at least needed. LOL

One other thought, if this has the 5.3L engine, I believe the intake needs to be removed to access the oil pressure sensor.

Let me know.

because I can see the shield that has a window for said oil pressure sensor so you can remove it without taking off the intake manifold is on every single gm gas engine...4.8, 5.3, and 6.0. come on!
