Good afternoon.

You did not list the engine size so I attached a picture of both the 1.5 and the 2.0.

The switch is out in the open and is accessed from the bottom of the car looking up.

I have an AC-Delco replacement but cannot where it is at. Had DTC P06DE. Oil level is fine and engine runs quietly and has no loss of power.

Hello,

I have included the information that you requested in the diagrams down below. It is located right in back of the oil filter. Please, if you have any other vehicle related questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks,
Alex

Hello,

I have included a diagram of your vehicle's engine and all of the switches and sensors on it. The Oil Pressure Switch(OPS) is number 11 on the diagram. Please get back to us with how everything turns out.

Thanks,
Alex

i have a leak that is coming from above the oil filter housing. i changed the oil pressure switch, but that did not help.
i am thinking about changing the oil filter. i am not sure that would help. just going about the least expensive
way. the leak seems to be coming from the engine above the filter. could this be valve cover gaskets.
my engine is v6 3.6l
need help

make sure it is not leaking from there. it is common when installing that you can break the plastic top on installation/

I need to replace my oil pressure sensor and I can't find a diagram of the location. I am pretty sure I see it but want to be sure. My car listed above is the LT model.

Good afternoon,

The sensor is above the oil filter. I attached two pictures for you to view.

Removal Procedure

The sensor that I need to replace is slightly below and to the left of the oil filter. I'm being told that is the oil pressure sensor but I need confirmation.

Do you have a new sensor? If you do, remove the connector from the sensor in the picture and make sure it fits on the new sensor. That will confirm it.

I have a 1998 Chevy Malibu. My oil sending unit is leaking oil. How did this happen and what can I do to fix it. My car has 109,000 miles and it won't start. I didnt have any problems until Jiffy Lube forgot to replace my oil cap.

The sending unit is most likely leaking because of age / miles. The part has one wiring harness to it. Disconnect it and the unit unbolts. Reverse the sequence to replace.

Thank you for your fast and accurate response. I wanted to make sure this mechanic was doing the right thing. The car still won't start. I do have an anti-theft system problem as well. For months I would try to start my car and the theft system light would come on. I had to wait about ten minutes and it would start right up. Now the car doesn't do that anymore. I have to wait hours before it will start up. Can I use a bypass kit or is the problem more severe?

I replaced the sensor.. which was not super fun and it's a whole lot better. My rpm gauge has stopped working and now it's working again. it smoked a little bit when I started it the first time but that was it. It still had a second of delay to start but that is a whole lot better than it was. Thank you so much for your help. I think replacing the starter is next just to be on the safe side.

As far as the security system, you need to have it tested at a dealer. They are the only ones with the proper test equipment to check it. To the best of my knowledge, it can't be bypassed.

NOTE: By waiting for 10 minutes with the key in the run position, you are bypassing the security system. If that no longer works, you need to have a dealer check the system. They are the only ones with the proper test equipment.
