Oil pressure too low

Did the manual gauge show low oil pressure? If the manual gauge showed correct oil pressure but you still get the warning it could be bad wiring from the pressure sender to the computer. If the gauge showed low pressure then it would be worn bearings that have excess clearance or another internal problem that is dropping the pressure.

Thanks Steve, i will need to ask the mechanic.i would of assumed it was okay as he put the oil pump in after the check. in the mean time how can i check to see if the wiring is bad?

Hi Steve , I have spoken to the mechanic, he said the oil pressure was high , he also said if I start the car and take the oil top off it will throw the oil out, I would see it lashing about, that also shows good oil pressure, he said it is a fault with the wiring from the switch to the ECU. could I check that myself? regards, Ed

Wiring should not be difficult to check. You know where the sending unit is, just follow those wire colors to the ECU. Disconnect the battery and test the wires for continuity. You will need a wiring diagram to make sure that the wires do not feed through something else but most of these type units are only a variable resistance or if it is only a light they are a simple switch. One side goes to ground, the other to the ECU.

Your vehicle was not sold in the US so I do not have a good diagram for it. Sorry. I see quite a few online that you can buy that cover your vehicle though.
