Oil pressure light turned on

Hi,

If you are getting a ticking sound, it sounds like the pressure is low. That isn't caused by the sensor, but instead, can be due to an oil pump, clogged pick-up screen, worn main bearings, and so on. If the mileage you indicated is correct, it may simply be wearing out.

Do me a favor. Let's confirm it is an oil pressure issue. What I need you to do is get a mechanical oil pressure gauge from a parts store. Most will lend one to you.

Next, remove the present electric oil pressure switch and screw in the mechanical one. Start the engine and see what pressure is being produced.

Do this and let me know what you find. I attached the manufacturer's specifications below.

Hi, just to jump in. Once a ticking or dieselin sound comes in there is sludge inside the engine from either lack of maintinance or wrong oil grade used.

When I was taking a variable valve timing course this was brought up and the recommended course of action would be to replace the engine assembly. The reason for this was because of the lack of lubrication there is so much damage internally that trying to clean and replace the oil pump alone will not solve the issue, especially the ticking.
